Vastu Entrance Calculator

Check where a main door sits on the Vastu mandala. Which of the 32 perimeter padas it falls on, the devata of that square, the effect the classical chapter gives it, and the favourable padas on the same side.

Describe the Main Door

The direction the front of the house looks out toward, not the direction you face walking in.

The front side is divided into eight padas. Counting starts at the northwest corner for a north facing, the northeast for east, the southeast for south, and the southwest for west.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 32 entrance padas in Vastu?

The mandala projected over a plot has a ring of 32 squares around its perimeter, eight to a side, and classical Vastu reads the main door by which of those 32 squares it falls on. Each pada is held by a named devata and the chapter states an effect for a main entrance placed there, so the verdict is a quotation rather than an opinion.

Which entrance direction is best in Vastu?

It is the pada that decides the reading, not the direction on its own. The classical chapter marks favourable padas on the east, north and west sides and none at all on the south, and on each of those sides only two or three of the eight qualify. So a north facing house with the door on the wrong pada reads worse than an east facing house with the door on the right one. The calculator names the favourable padas on your own side.

What is a devata in the Vastu mandala?

Each square of the mandala is assigned to a named devata, and the entrance reading is stated in terms of the devata holding the door square. The 81 pada Paramasayika grid names a devata on every square, which is why this calculator reads that grid. The 64 pada Manduka grid gives structure only, with no devata names in the chapter.

Does the size of the plot change the entrance reading?

No. The mandala is projected over whatever the plot is, so the pada depends on which side the door is on and how far along that side it sits, never on the dimensions. A door four eighths along a north side falls on the same pada whether the plot is 30 feet wide or 90. Plot size does change the other Vastu readings, such as the Ayadi formulas and the marma points.
